Tapas

11/6/12

Tonight is an excellent opportunity for Tapas. For this Pitta girl, planning ahead for every contingency is what I’ve been paid good money to do for my corporate gig.¬† I like my job, and I’m good at it – 14 years of practice makes perfect. However, there are some things I can’t control. It’s election night and … Well, here goes for the Samskara (aka pattern, habit, groove): “OMG, this could be the worst election in history…” I could keep my finger on the pulse of the minute-by-minute updates, and totally buy into that story, and that worrying could actually “fix” the situation. But fix it for whom? It’s a tricky path.

I observed my gut clenching just a bit with anxiety as I scanned the headlines. And then I released my breath, which I had unconsciously held, and released the need to try to control something that I couldn’t – the election – beyond what I had already contributed to in one way or the other.

This was hugely liberating – absolutely freeing.

I like it. In a non-Raga sort of way, of course.
